Mayra Cepeda
Mayra Cepeda is a Certified Medical Interpreter and experienced trainer with Language Access Academy, where she supports the professional development of aspiring interpreters through interactive, culturally responsive instruction. She also continues to serve as a freelance interpreter with Lango.
With over two decades of bilingual experience in education and community service, Mayra brings a strong foundation in communication, cultural sensitivity, and learner-centered teaching. Before transitioning into the field of interpreting, she spent more than 20 years as an educator in Christian schools and the Arlington Independent School District in Arlington, Texas.
In 2014, Ms. Cepeda retired from teaching to pursue a new professional path in language access. Within two and a half years, she completed a Graduate Certificate in Interpreting, earned her Master’s Degree from Dallas Baptist University and obtained national certification
as a Certified Medical Interpreter (CMI) through the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters (NBCMI).
Through her work with Language Access Academy, Mayra is dedicated to empowering interpreters with the knowledge, skills, and confidence they need to serve their communities with excellence. She lives in the Dallas–Fort Worth area with her husband, Roberto, and is the proud mother of three adult children: Corinne, Roberto E., and Samantha.
